Well it didn't take

That long for the second sock. It took football on Sunday and Monday and watching Revolution and The SHIELD and i finished up Thursday watching The Big Bang Theory. Yeah for mindless knitting! Now I wanted to give these to D for Christmas so fingers crossed his feet don't grow.

It worked! Thank you Google

So after using google I found a solution to my fuzzy pill problem. Yep one of my razors. I laid the blanket out on the table and carefully and slowly - we'll basically shaved the blanket. Yes that is a big pile of fuzz. It worked though. The blanket looks great. Turned out that the old version of the yarn I used was famous for pilling (old in years). I bought the yarn in 2011 at 20 weeks pregnant. If you look at the pile it's mostly the dark blue a little lighter blue a just a little grey. The dark blue is the least used color by ball count. So it seems the blue must be the old version

Epic Pain

Well Mj's blanket went in for a wash and the yarn (Vintage Chunky) is suppose to be machine washable and dry able. Well that was a lie. As you can see its a pill-y mess. Huge mess. It took me almost 2 years to make it and after one wash it looks like crap. I have a few ideas to try to save it. (Yes I have one of those fuzz buster things and no it doesn't work. The pills are too big for it)

Three year later

And we have a sock. Started three years ago for my son D. Thankfully they are top down so I just lengthened the foot. The boy's foot is a size and a half bigger then mine and he is close to the same height. He is only 12! Anyway. I moved the normal gusset decreases to the bottom of the foot so the sock looks weird off the foot but do to knitting magic fits perfectly.

New craft

For Mother's Day I was gifted a Cricket Loom. This blue and red scarf was the learning project that came with the loom. Yeah it's got it mess ups.

For my second project I made this blue scarf. Which had tension problems when i took it off the loom and looked horrible.

Well why not throw it in the washer and dryer to felt it. It was already a disaster so what more could be done.  It came out wonderful. Soft and fluffy.  While i was weaving it my son claimed it right away so while i was debating what to do with the messed up one i made another one using the same yarn. No pictures yet it's drying. Those two scarfs ate up over 600 yards of yarn.

Weaving, once it's set up is fun and quick.Plus its it eats up yardage very quickly and it wonderful for those odd ball skeins of yarn. Which brings me to my current project.

New night project

Mj's sweater is done and awaiting its bath. If the weather holds pictures will be follow shortly after its dry. So I needed something new. Arm warmers! They are like fingerless mitts but without the thumb. I already finished one last night while watching Revolution on Netflix ( really good show trying to catch up before season 2 starts). The second one was started during football today and should be done tomorrow. Yarn is just some leftovers and a single ball of silk and cashmere I got at my first Stitch'N'Pitch in 2006. Crazy

Secrets

I have a confession to make. I am 36 and have a cardiologist. Why? Well according to him I am genetically disadvantaged. Which is basically a nice way of saying I am screwed genetically. My cholesterol is pushing 300 (though my good is 57 which is good). My heart also has problems. My mitral valve leaks, most likely cause by infection that I didn't even know I had. It was discovered about three years ago when I noticed my other problem and went to get checked out. My heart skips and adds extra beats and then stumbles to get back into rhythm. The good thing i have going is that my blood pressure is perfect. So it was time to get serious. I am try to avoid medication because of side effects so I was basically told to get it together and I have 6 months before I go on medication. It's up to me doc said. If I do nothing I'll mostly likely have a major heart attack within 10 years. Talk about wake up call. So for the last 6 weeks I have been eating healthy. I mean really healthy. I was told to lose weight, eat right and the dreaded e word exercise. Thing is I was also told this by my primary doc, and my back doctor so I guess maybe I should listen. So to strengthen my heart I started running. Yes I said running. If you know me you know how much I hate running. I am doing the couch to 5k and here's the scary thing I am actually enjoying it. Now I have had to start real slow but I have logged in over 27 miles. My deadline is February when I go back to the cardiologist. My primary is keeping an eye on me and so far I have lost a little bit of weight but like she said I am building muscle which is heavier the fat so the weight number isn't everything.

I just hope this all works because basically it's scaring the crap out of me.

Why I don't really knit sweaters

I hate sleeves. They are the black hole of knitting for me. This green sweater is for my MJ. Thank goodness it's toddler sized. I have two adult sweaters awaiting me. One has Belen's sitting waiting for 1 sleeve. The other well I don't talk about it :). (It's kicking my butt)
